A Canyon Lake firefighter was booked last week on a charge of driving while intoxicated, according to Comal County jail records.
New Braunfels police arrested Elijah Paul Richter, 22, just after midnight on Oct. 30, records show.
Police said Richter was pulled over on South Academy Avenue near West San Antonio Street after officers saw him driving a truck with its headlights off.
Richter “showed signs of intoxication,” and police said they conducted field sobriety tests. The 22-year-old was taken into custody and a blood draw warrant was issued. KSAT Investigates has requested a copy of the warrant.
Richter was released from jail the same day on a $3,000 bond, records show.
New Braunfels police said the case is still under investigation and additional charges could be added.
Richter is currently on administrative leave from the Canyon Lake Fire Department pending review, Fire Chief Robert Mikel confirmed to KSAT Investigates on Monday.
