Savannah Guthrie renews plea for information in mother’s disappearance

Savannah Guthrie continues to seek information surrounding her mother’s disappearance, issuing a new post on social media in an effort to bring her mother home.

The “Today” show host made a post on Instagram Sunday, sharing an old drawing from her daughter, which had the words “I know it might not seem like it but, I really need my mommy,” written on it.

When talking about the drawing, Savannah said, “It says so much about how I feel. The world goes on, things appear ‘normal’ – as we try to keep going and be strong, especially for our young kids – but it’s not and it never will be.”

The 54-year-old said her family still “aches” for her mother, Nancy, 84, who went missing nine months ago from her home in Tucson, Arizona.

Authorities reviewed a possible new ransom note in September. Officials later said the message was “not credible.”

“We ache for her, we cry out for answers, we cannot move forward. We need someone to help us, tell us what you know,” Savannah said in the post. “Our mom was a light in this world. We want to celebrate her and give her the dignity she deserves. Please. We are begging you. Please help us.”

Savannah reminded people that a $1 million reward remains available.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department—which has been investigating the case— said it’s continuing to work with its labs in hopes of furthering DNA analysis in the investigation.

“Earlier this month, investigators traveled to Florida to meet with lab scientists to see what more could be done to advance the case,” the department said. “A number of ideas were discussed, and we continue to work with all of our partners to solve this case.”

Savannah concluded her post, saying, “Thank you to all those who have been kind and shown the best of humanity. Join us in praying without ceasing.”
