Three People Rescued From Burning Boat Near Marin County Beach

Nearby boaters rescued three people from a burning vessel that had rapidly begun taking on water near Stinson Beach Friday morning.

The Coast Guard responded to the incident after receiving a distress call at 11:58 am Friday from someone on a nearby boat who reported seeing smoke coming from the 32-foot motor vessel, according to a news release. A person aboard the burning vessel was also seen waving their arms for help.

The boaters managed to get all three people off the burning vessel before it sank approximately five miles west of Stinson Beach.

The Coast Guard‘s lifeboat and helicopter crews arrived after the rescue, and the three survivors were transferred to the lifeboat.

Once it was determined that none of the survivors needed medical attention, they were transported to Pier 45, their vessel’s original departure.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
