In a social media post, ACILEP said they are providing legal support to the student.

UC Berkeley Chancellor Richard K. Lyons released a statement about the arrest that reads in part:

"This student is a valued member of our community, and campus leadership is doing everything within our power to support them so that they may return to their life at Berkeley to continue their studies with us.

"We understand the urgency of this moment. While student privacy laws and university policy limit what we can share publicly, I want our community to know that we’ve mobilized legal support and are working to ensure our student has access to advice and representation. We are also in close contact with their family and with leaders and organizations on and off campus who are working on their behalf."

The students' identity has not yet been released. No additional arrests were made in connection with the incident.
